GUSA and the What’s A Hoya? Program Coordinators are committed to offering informative and dynamic events in collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
We need your help! The success of this program depends on the institutional knowledge, expertise, and feedback of all campus community members. We are looking for collaboration on all aspects of content creation, information dissemination, and discussion facilitation.
Student Group Partners
What’s a Hoya? seeks to partner with student organizations in several key ways:
- Participate as a panelist, planner, or facilitator in any one of the themes as listed on this page. As we enter each consecutive month new applications and calls for nominated will be posted on this page.
- Link your upcoming programs and opportunities to relevant sessions. What’s a Hoya? is meant to act as a mechanism to promote continued engagement, and we will conclude each event with a presentation on upcoming programs as well as follow up by email with program descriptions.
- Spread the word about this opportunity to your membership to encourage freshmen to participate and upperclassmen to get involved as panelists or facilitators.
We hope that What’s a Hoya? will serve as a way for student groups to raise their profile on campus by encouraging new students to continue to engage in session topics through existing programming and interest communities. Email [email protected] with the subject line “Student Group” to link your events to relevant themes and partner with us in this initiative!
Panelists and Speakers
Know someone who would make a good presenter in the program? The What’s a Hoya? team is looking for community members to participate as speakers, panelists, or facilitators. Current planning centers around the November theme of Men and Women for Others, meaning we are looking specifically for:
- Faculty panelists - Mentorship (close 11/15)
- Student panelists - Mentorship, Research, and Leadership (close 11/15)
Log onto HoyaLink and fill out this form to nominate any community member for the above roles! Faculty or staff may email [email protected] to do the same. Please include name, grade if applicable, major/discipline, school, an email address, and why you think they would make a great presenter.

Planning Process
What’s a Hoya? is in the process of planning content for Cura Personalis and Community in Diversity. The Program Coordinators are working closely with university administrators and resource centers to identify appropriate content and partner with students and student groups who have extensive interest and experience in each topic. We are looking for student and group participation that will help brainstorm content, flesh out and prepare each session, and advertise partnership and participation opportunities across campus.
If your group would like to participate in the planning process, please email [email protected]! Interested faculty and staff are invited to email us at that address as well to participate.
