FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement from President Tisa and Vice President Ramadan on University Parking Restrictions
We’re profoundly disappointed with today’s announcement of new and unnecessary restrictions on student parking around Georgetown’s campus.
The 2010 Campus Plan, which was agreed to without student involvement, scapegoats students for congestion and arbitrarily bans them from bringing cars to campus. To an extent, the University’s hands are tied by the campus plan, but today’s decision followed a disappointing pattern of avoiding discussion of critical issues with the people most affected by them: Georgetown students.
After a promising forum on the Northeast Triangle yesterday where student engagement was a priority, today’s decision is a step in the wrong direction. Moving forward, it will be critical that the Georgetown administrators re-engage with students.
